Panoply functions as an advanced E-Multimedia Composer and interactive Player designed for mobile use. It serves as the iPhone equivalent to Panoploid for the iPad, offering users a versatile platform for creating a wide array of multimedia content.
This application enables the development of diverse projects, including business cards, greeting cards, panoramic photographs, playlists, party invitations with directions, travel guides with audio and video components, executive multimedia presentations, art sketches, and music video albums with cover art—all directly from an iPhone.
Device Compatibility: This software requires an iPhone 5 or later model to operate effectively.
Modeled conceptually like an E-book, Panoply allows users to incorporate not only text and images but also maps and graphics. It supports the addition of 'On Touch Do' (OnDo) directives on composites—these enable interactive actions such as playing media files, displaying images, or opening web pages. Collectively, these interactive assemblies are referred to as 'Composites.'
The composite library offers search capabilities based on location by address, latitude/longitude coordinates, or caption labels.
Users can share composite images via email or Bluetooth in a proprietary multimedia-rich format, or export them as PDFs or standard images.
Panoply facilitates the capture of panoramic views by automatically aligning and sizing up to five individual photos to create seamless panoramas. Composites can be edited immediately during capture or later at any desired time.
A collection of composites can be organized into a 'Portfolio' for easy storage and management. The application optimizes media resource handling by minimizing duplication wherever possible.
Panoply does not impose a rigid workflow; all functions—from capture to modification—are accessible at any moment without restrictions.
The content is stored in a device-independent format, allowing edits to be applied directly to original files to preserve maximum resolution. Future releases intended for higher-resolution devices will be able to present existing content in native resolution formats.
Powered by database technology, Panoply offers fast responsiveness and efficient search capabilities.
The application is built exclusively on native iPhone technologies; it does not rely on third-party software or platforms from other systems.
Gesture interpretation within Panoply adapts dynamically based on context (graphics, maps, etc.) and user settings, preventing the need for arbitrary gesture definitions. Users should be mindful of current modes and settings to interpret gestures correctly—for example, creating various shapes through two-touch gestures depending on the active tools and configurations.
